Kirfest 2008
We recently celebrated a friend's birthday with a tour of destinations well known for their fine wines and we didn't even leave Berkeley! Our stops included France, Spain and of course California (located in various homes of friends). Upon special request from one of Kirfest's favorite people I designed some simple labels for the wine bottles at the "Napa" winery. After so much wine throughout the evening, I'm surprised my friends even noticed the labels!

Harvey's shapin' up!

No I didn't sculpt a kid out of cold cut meats from the deli! Under all that flesh colored clay hides Harvey the mischievous kid with the giant ginger head. This Super Sculpy mock up is just a rough blocking of Harvey. I'll use the 360 degree turn around I drew to help me sculpt the little fella out. Hopefully by next week he'll look less like a misshapen log of liverwurst and more like the character. Stay tuned my Meanypies!

Lions, kids and other vicious things

Here are some sketches from my last visit to the California Academy of Science and the San Francisco Zoo. If you haven't had a chance to visit the Academy of Science, I highly recommend it. The people there are just as fun to draw as the animals. My favorite is when people think you're sketching them (but you're not) and they get super posey'
and stiff. It's like watching America's Next Top Model unfold right before your eyes! Except Tyra isn't right there trying to upstage everyone by smiling with her eyes.
