Whats love without hate?

Valentine's Day is creeping up! For those hearts and souls that aren't all about hugs and kisses but instead more charred and shriveled, I give you ANTI-Valentine Cards!!! I made a batch of Anti Valentines a couple years back while I was still in college to avoiding giving Mary Kate and Asheley Valentines, AGAIN. Instead of coming off as dark and brooding which I constantly aim for, they were a hit amongst the deranged peers. No one took my threats of kidnap and beatings seriously. So basically the plan backfired and now anti-Valentine cards have become a yearly staple for my friends. Here are the rough sketches so far. Who knows, if I get my act together I might even dust off the ol' Etsy store and sell packs so the Anti Love message can be spread all around the world...

Happy Chinese New Years!

It's the weekend of Chinese New Years! You know what that means! Home to visit family, collect some red pockets, eat and get some laundry done at mom and dad's house!
Here are some early sketch ideas for a card I'm making for my mom and dad. I'll post the finished piece later. I know, its the year of the OX and I should have incorporated it somehow. Well there's some beef tucked in that Shu Mai, does that count? And, yes that's a Hong Kong chicken foot up in the mix. Somehow he lacks the same charm that crispy shrimp ball or pork bun has. :(

During the holiday break I spent most of the week eating, hanging out with my family or eating with my family while hanging out. However one new annual event has been added to the holiday agenda, GO KART RACING! That's right, 19 Asian kids behind the wheel of Go Karts that could reach speeds of 35 mph! Suddenly aggressive drivers on the 101 don't sound so terrible huh? Ha just kidding no stereotypes were met...well not many...

Resolutions don't apply...yet.

Happy 2009 everyone! Sure I might be later than many people in wishing you so, but I still hope the end of 2008 served you well. One of my resolutions for 2009 is to do more personal art work and update this little blogger of mine more often than I did last year. Yes, yes I'm aware I've already fallen behind on the blog update resolution. To be fair I TECHNICALLY don't have to start working on my resolutions until Chinese Lunar New Year which is January 26th. Yes, I found a loophole!

Also Saturday morning is FRENCH TOAST DAY! It's not really a tradition or anything, merely pawning off old bread to any friends willing to eat it by dipping it into batter and frying the hell out of it. Resolution 3: Don't waste food in 2009, CHECK!
