Man oh man, creating visuals for books tailored towards tiny tots that can't even read is hard work! We went through the process in a water coloring class. There are character development sketches, thumbnails, rough layout sketches, value studies, color studies than the final color composition. Whew! Even after all that I might go back and do it one more time to make sure I really like it. *Pass out & drool everywhere.

UP, UP & Away!
This isn't completely art related but here we go anyways! This past weekend I was lucky enough to attend the Pixar UP Wrap Party, while sporting a sweet pair of Christian Louboutin heels and a cute guy on my arm (I went with Nick of course!). We previewed UP & Partly Cloudy, an upcoming animated short in the Paramount Theater in Oakland than we were off to the renovated Fox Theater to eat, drink and be merry. I must say I went into UP not knowing what to expect, but if I had any expectations they would have been blown away completely! UP has alot of heart, tender moments and of course Russell! In my opinion Russell is one of Pixar's best characters, and I'm not being biased I swear. I'll be the first in line when the Russell action figures hit stores. I know seems like an oxymoron, Fat Asian Kid Action Figure. Eh I'll still buy it.Overall the entertainment was great, food was good, and the company was swell. However the only thing that betrayed me that evening were my 3.5in black heels, who would have thought?! By 1am while we walked out (or while I hobbled and Nick walked) a security guard assumed I was drunk based on my busted gait and bubbly giggle. I wasn't! Merely crippled by my fashion sense...once again.

French Patisserie? Oui Oui!
A rough sketch of a french Patisserie, or as they say in good ol' English, a pastry shop. Sounds fancier in French...

The ol' gang all together
The weekends over... Time to drag my sad Converse covered little feet back to work and school. *grumble grumble

All Done Up

This little gem in the trailer park is my latest creation from layout class. As you know I like to keep it classy, and I find nothing classier than getting my hair done up in a 5'x6' Airstream trailer. I drew inspiration from my good ol' hometown and some select friends (you know who you are).
Go on and treat yourselves by getting a pedicure at your own local Mobile Home Village. Happy Weekend!

More Selfishness
The weather has been great lately, the downside, I find myself mostly stuck inside old offices and even older classrooms. My ghostly pale skin has yet had an opportunity to soak up the Spring sunshine.

More Selfish Giant characters. Spring being all cute and spry as one would expect Spring to be if she was a real person, and North Wind blowing it up as she should be.

March Baby Madness
You know how everyone dreads the month of December because of all the gifts they gotta purchase for Christmas? My feelings for the months March and April are about the same. Its an onslaught of birthdays from the first week clear through the last. These past two weekends we've celebrated nearly every single one of my family member's days of birthing. Up top is a birthday card Nick and I collaborated on for a little Spring sprout by the name of Zack. I'm still laughing at the cleverness I scrawled inside the card. Hee hee. Alright, done patting myself on the back.If you don't recognize any of those characters its not because they are Zack's favorite B-actors or anything. They're instead his favorite videogame characters. So unless your Xbox is rubber-banded to your face like some people I know...you might not get it. See why I enlisted Nick's help now?
Well, there's probably about 30 more birthdays in the weeks to come. So I'll just say it now just in case I forget "Happy Birthday, I'm done with you for another year!" Oh just kidding, I'll send you birthday babies the obligatory Facebook birthday greeting ;) duh!
